Wike’s Provocative Remark: ‘Time Will Reveal Rivers State Leadership,’ Taunts Governor Fubara

Nyesom Wike, the former Governor of Rivers State and current Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, has delivered a provocative statement, asserting, “Time will reveal Rivers State leadership,” in a taunt aimed at Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Wike’s pointed remark comes in the midst of a politically charged atmosphere in Rivers State. The former governor made the comment during an unexpected visit to Chief Victor Giadom, the National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), fueling speculations of shifting political dynamics in the region.

In the circulating video on social media, Wike dismissed the influence of social media in determining political leadership, stating, “Forget about these hungry noisemakers on the road. When the time comes, we will know who is in charge and who is not in charge.”

The ongoing political unrest in Rivers State involves lawmakers loyal to the Minister serving an impeachment notice to Governor Fubara. President Bola Tinubu’s intervention resulted in the withdrawal of the impeachment notice by lawmakers who defected to the APC from the Peoples Democratic Party.

Wike clarified that his visit to Giadom’s residence was a private one, urging against misinterpretation. He emphasized the importance of a direct connection with the people in politics and praised Giadom’s political relevance.

The former governor, known for his vocal stance, underscored the enduring nature of friendships beyond political affiliations, while also acknowledging past mistakes. Wike concluded his visit with a message of unity, encouraging continued support for leaders like Giadom and stressing the role of community cohesion in fostering development.

As Wike’s remark reverberates through political circles, the statement adds further intrigue to the unfolding political landscape in Rivers State, heightening anticipation for the revelation of true leadership amid the ongoing crisis.
