Wike Declares General Public Holiday In Rivers State Ahead Of State Election

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared 17th March 2023 as general public holiday to enable civil servants in the State prepare to participate in March 18 governorship and state House of Assembly election.
Governor Wike made this declaration during a state-wide live broadcast on Thursday.

The Rivers State governor, also ordered security agencies to arrest some persons in the state over an alleged plot to disrupt Saturday’s elections.
He also said that he has petitioned the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Army Staff, and other relevant authorities not to release army personnel to former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, or any politician to interfere in Saturday’s election in the State.
