Former president of Nigeria Olusegun Obasanjo has praised the governor of Akwa Ibom State governor Udom Emmanuel for his infractural development in the State saying that he has made the state better than he met it.
Obasanjo said this when he was commissioning the 23.4km Etinan-Eket Road on Tuesday May 2nd 2023, according to former President of Nigeria,a good leader is one that leaves a place better than he met it.
Obasanjo described the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Udom Emmanuel as a successful leader, adding that on the state Chief Executive’s invitation, he has commissioned more projects in Akwa Ibom than any state in Nigeria.
“You have particularly dignified me because you have invited me to commission projects in Akwa Ibom more than any other state.
“A governor in this country has invited the President to commission a project, invited the Vice President to commission the same project and even invited me to commission the same project. But in Akwa Ibom, I commission new projects and every new project exist to add value to an already existing project.”
On succession, the former President believes that Governor Emmanuel has left a legacy for Akwa Ibom People through the governor-elect, Pastor Umo Eno.
“One of the things that bothered me was how you will land and your successor but today you have achieved success. Success without a good successor becomes a big problem. Today, you have delivered capacity through the governor-elect, so I congratulate you, myself, the governor elect and Akwa Ibom People. From what I have seen and heard, you have a legacy” he said.
