The senator representating Anambra central Senator Mrs Uche Ekwunife has denied the reports on social media that she endorsed the presidential candidate of labour party Mr Peter Obi as her preferred presidential candidate.

Ekwunife in a statement she released on Saturday said that even though Peter Obi is her leader, and a person she holds on high esteem, but her political aspirations has become very divergent to that of Peter Obi.

According to her, she is only focused on delivering the People’s Democratic Party the presidential candidate of PDP Atiku Abubarka and can’t for any reason betray PDP which has given her various opportunities in her political career.

The Statement Reads:

It has come to my notice that an online blog has been circulating articles claiming that, I have endorsed the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi in the forthcoming February poll. The Online blog, further attributed statements that may translate as adopting Mr. Peter Obi as my Candidate for the election.

I want to state categorically that, those statements never emanated from me or my Campaign Council. I also, wish to state that, Mr. Peter Obi is my leader and elder brother from Anambra Central whom I respect and hold in high esteem. But, our political aspiration has become divergent hence, the need for me to focus on delivering our Presidential Candidate. His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar and the Vice Presidential Candidate, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa who are of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP). Of course I cannot for any reason betray my bosom friend, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa who has been supportive of all my aspirations from time immemorial.

May I re-state that. I’m of the People’s Democratic Party and we have Candidates in all the elective positions across Nigeria and I cannot at this point, work against my Party or any of her Candidates for whatever reason. Mr. Peter Obi is no doubt, a force to reckon with in this election. But, will not be able to garner the required spread that will secure his win. Unlike His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar who has everything it takes to win the election with high margin.

To this end. I, reiterate my unalloyed support to the Presidential aspiration of His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar. While urging the good people of Anambra Central and indeed, Nigerians to key into this project to rescue Nigeria and set her on the path for greatness.
