Former Zamfara State governor and Senator-elect to represent Zamfara west senatorial district Senator Abdul’Aziz Yari has stated that the senate presidential position is not for the President-elect Bola Tinubu to decide.
Yari who is also in contention for the Senate President position said this on Friday when asked his position on the decision of the president elect to endorse former minister of Niger Delta Senator God’sWill Akpabio.
According to report, senator Yari has reportedly refused the persuasion of President-elect, Bola Tinubu to step down for Godswill Akpabio for the Senate Presidency and will go ahead to contest
Yari had earlier on Friday said the contest will be based on constitutional provisions and not instructions by anyone
“What is going to happen that day, it is going to happen based on the instructions of the constitution and not for anyone.”
The former Zamfara State Governor described the contest as senators’ business, backed by the constitution to choose their leaders within themselves and based on instructions from anyone
