The governor of Ebonyi State Senator David Nweze Umahi has said that he has Stepdown for former governor of Akwa Ibom State God’sWill Akpabio in race for the senate president.
Umahi said this when speaking to newsmen after a meeting with the president-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the defence house Abuja on Friday.
DAILYNEWSLINK earlier reported that the governor of Kano State Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on Friday endorsed Akpabio as APC consensus candidate for the senate president position.
Speaking to DAILYNEWSLINK’s correspondent after meeting in Abuja Umahi stated that he has to stepdown for his brother Akpabio after meeting with Bola Tinubu who assured him of his commitment in the Akpabio Senate Presdidency Project and as a loyal party man he has to stepdown.
Umahi said, ” My brother (Akpabio) came on consultation with me but yesterday, I saw the President-elect, Bola Tinubu on his invitation and he told me that he’s already committed.
“He said, Please don’t run and I accepted to step down for Senator Akpabio for Senate President and Senator Barau for Deputy Senate President.
