Police Arrest Officers Seen Assaulting A Man In A Viral Video In Rivers State

The Nigerian Police Force Rivers State Command have arrested a police officers seen assaulting an unidentified driver in a viral video which trended on social media on Monday April 10.

In the video a police officer was seen slapping a young and heating him with his cane while the other officers was also seen rushing towards the vehicle of the man’s wife and assaulting her also.

The incident happened in Portharcourt East West Road in Emuoha Junction on Monday morning.

After the incident the Rivers State Commissioner Of police CP Okong Effiong immediately ordered the immediate arrest of the three policemen attached to Rivers State Rapid Response Squad involved in act.

Confirming the report, the police spokesman SP Muyiwa Adejobi said that the action of the policemen does not portray the police in a good light at all.

According to Adejobi in a statement said “These men have been arrested, and their commander will personally bring them to the force headquarters tomorrow (today) for further actions.

“They are three in number, attached to RRS, Rivers State. Their action does not portray the police in a good light at all. It is still to buttress my point that whatever a policeman does is personal, not systemic.

“I wonder how a man, a reasonable man, would be flogging or slapping a grown-up man in that manner. So barbaric and unpolice.”
