Police Arrest Imo Labour Party Assembly Candidate In Owerri

The Nigerian Police Force Imo State Command have arrested the Labour Party House Of Assembly candidate for Owerri Municipal Constituency Hon.Clinton Amadi.

According to reports Hon. Clinton Amadi was contacted by the Imo State INEC Resident Electoral Commission INEC Professor Silvia Agu to come for the collection of his certified copies of his result of the March 18 State Assembly Election with which he will use to filed a petition for the outcome of the election.

According to report,official results on the IReV Portal shows that LP’s Hon Clinton Amadi convincingly won Owerri Municipal State Constituency with 5,048 votes (40%); APC scored 3,088 (25%), PDP 3044 (24%) and APGA 1,104 (9%).

The total voter turnout for Owerri Municipal was 12,565 but shockingly the APC candidate was announced winner with 79,850 votes!

He was alledged picked up by the men of Imo State Police Command at the INEC office immediately after he was handed the documents.

So far, no reason for the arrest have been given by the Police for the arrest, but speaking to a popular radio station in Owerri on Thursday, the spokesperson of Labour Party in the State said that the police said that there was a petition against him which prompted the arrest.

According to the Police,he will be arraigned in Owerri Hight Court on Thursday for alledged terrorism charges against him.
