Peter Obi Demands Investigation Into The Onisha Main Market Fire Incident.

The presidential candidate of Labour Party in the just concluded Nigeria’s presidential election Mr Peter Obi,has demanded immediate investigation into the sudden fire outbreak in Onitsha Main Market on Tuesday.

Peter Obi made this demands in a post on his Facebook handle on Tuesday while reacting to the news of fire outbreak in Onisha Main Market.

Onista main market in Anambra state is considered as one of the biggest markets in the entire south east region which also attracts foreign marketers from neighbouring countries, like Ghana, Benin Republic, south Africa and some other African countries.

The market was reportedly guts with fire in the early hours of Tuesday 21st March 2023 as at 2:am burning down shops and destroying properties and goods worth millions of dollars.

Reacting today tragic incidents, Peter Obi who was also the governor of Anambra State called on the government of the state to investigate the root cause of the fire outbreak in to forestall the future occurances.

He also called on the government and the good willing people of Anambra State and Nigerians at large to come for the help of this businessmen and women who the fire incident affected their source of livelihood the n other to get back to their feet.

He Wrote “I received reports of the fire outbreak in Main Market, Onitsha. Preliminary reports suggest that the fire started early in the morning today, and goods worth millions of Naira have been lost to the fire.

“I am saddened by the occurrence of such an ugly incident. Beyond the State, the Main Market, Onitsha plays a vital role in the economy of the nation by boosting the volume of trade in the nation.

“I commiserate with all the victims of the fire incident and hope that the government and concerned Nigerians will come to their aid. I also urge the government to fully investigate the cause of the fire outbreak so as to forestall future occurrences.
