Ondo Catholic Church Killing:Akeredolu Directs Flying of Flags At Half Mast In Honour Of Victims Of Owo Terror Attack.

The Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu Aketi ,SAN, has directed all public buildings, facilities and official residences to fly the Nigerian flag at half -mast for seven days in honour of the victims of the Owo terror attack on Sunday.

Governor Akeredolu said the attack on innocent worshipers at St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street,Owo was a deliberate and calculated assault on the people of the state.

The Governor said:”

Those who unleashed this unprovoked terror attack on our people have tested our collective resolves. We will not be deterred in responding appropriately to this dastardly act.

“In honour of the victims of this unfortunate attack, i hereby direct that all flags be flown at half-mast for seven days, starting from today, Monday, June 6, to Sunday, June 12, 2022. It is a collective loss to the people of our dear state.”

Recall that unidentified gunmen invaded st Francis Catholic Church in Owo local government area of Ondo State on Sunday 5th June 2022 where over 50 persons was reportedly killed in the attack.

In another development, the presidential candidate of Labour party Mr Peter Obi has condemned the barbaric attack on Owo Catholic church in Ondo State on Sunday.

According to Obi he said that the attack on the Catholic Church and other similar attacks on Nigerians has proving his position that Nigeria is fast becoming a failed country if nothing fast is done to recover the country.

Obi also sent his condolences to the governor of Ondo State Rotimi Akeredolu and the people who were affected in the attack.

Meanwhile, the Owo Catholic church has demised the report flying on social media that the gunmen who invaded the church on Sunday kidnapped the parish priest and other worshipers in the attack.

Speaking to newsmen,the parish priest said that the gunmen purposely came to kill and destroy just as what was said in the bible. He said that nobody was kidnapped and the parish priest is safe, as the church is still counting their losses in the lives of those worshipers lost in the attack.
