Lawan Opposed Akpabio But Tinubu Overruled Him ~ Report.

Yesterday, it was reported that a meeting was held at the residence of the newly elected president of Nigeria, Chief Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in order to finalize the zoning arrangements of the National Assembly and the House of Representatives, as Tinubu again insisted that, he was endorsing Senator Godswill Akpabio as Senate President.
It was reported that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, had last week set up the nine-man caucus to take decision on the zoning arrangement to pave the way for the emergence of the leadership of the two chambers of the National Assembly.
However, according to the Leadership Newspaper Online this morning, it was reported that reliable sources, who were at the meeting last night, told Leadership correspondent that, the choice of Akpabio generated heated debate, as Senator Ahmad Lawan, renewed his opposition to his emergence as his successor.

It was gathered that, Senator Ahmad Lawan, who had last week led a team of Senators to Tinubu, discredited Senator Godswill Akpabio, and insisted that the former governor of Akwa-Ibom State, was not a fit and proper person to lead the Senate of the 10th Assembly.
The source said, “During yesterday’s meeting in Abuja, Lawan opposed Akpabio again but Tinubu overruled him. He overruled the outgoing Senate president by insisting on his preference for Senator Godswill Akpabio. The outgoing Senate president, Senator Ahmad Lawan, who renewed his opposition to Akpabio as his successor, could not have his way as his position was turned down by Asiwaju Tinubu. Then, Senator Ahmad Lawan was overwhelmed, and he had no option than to succumb to Tinubu’s decision.”
