Just In; IPOB Demand Public Apology From Nation Newspaper And Retraction Of Their Publication Against IPOB.

on

The indigenous people of Biafra IPOB has demanded immediate public apology from The Nation Newspaper and retraction of their publication against IPOB or meet them in court.

This is coming after the Media house has attributed the the killings and attack in some states in South East on Friday by an unknown gunmen who are enforcing the Sit At Home Order giving by Simon Ekpa to the organization.

The Nation Newspaper,on their verified Twitter Handle on Friday alleged that the attack in some states was carried out by IPOB/ESN members who are enforcing the purported Sit At Home Order which did not go well with IPOB.

Expressing shock at the publication by The Nation Newspaper, the lead council to IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor in a release on Saturday denied the accusation and demanded for the immediate retraction of the publication with a public apology to IPOB.

He also explain that IPOB , and the media and publicity had earlier condemned the Sit At Home Order and distance themselves from what he called”evil plot by criminal elements in the South East and ordered the people to disregard the order and move about their business.

The Statement Reads

PRE-ACTION NOTICE:
DEMAND FOR IMMEDIATE RETRACTION AND UNRESERVED PUBLIC APOLOGY TO THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLE OF BIAFRA (IPOB).

My attention has been drawn to a mischievous and malicious publication by the Nation Newspaper titled- “Two killed as Southeast defies IPOB’s sit-at-home order”. The link is attached herewith. https://thenationonlineng.net/two-killed-as-southeast-defies-ipobs-sit-at-home-order/

The Nation Newspaper, its editors and publishers; and indeed the general public, are aware that the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), which I am its Lead Counsel, never ordered any sit at home in the Southeast or anywhere else.

As a matter of fact, IPOB totally condemned and distanced itself from the sit at home that was ordered by some criminal elements, who are bent on destroying our homeland and people. This is contained in a Statement I had issued on the 5th December, 2022, as directed by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra; and also in a statement issued by the leadership of IPOB on the 6th December, 2022.

It is therefore disingenuous and mischievous of the Nation Newspaper to attribute the said sit at home order to IPOB.

I am by this notice demanding AN IMMEDIATE RETRACTION and UNRESERVED PUBLIC APOLOGY from the Nation Newspaper for the aforesaid misleading headline/report.

Any default in complying with the demand herein made, the Nation Newspaper shall have their day in court with us.

Signed:
Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Esq. (KSC)
IPOB’s Lead Counsel
10th December, 2022
