Federal Government Postponed National Census To May

The federal government of Nigeria has postponed the March 29 2023 date initially scheduled for the commencement of the national Population and Housing Census to May 2023.

The postponement was announced by Nigeria’s Minister of communication an culture Lai mohammed, during the Federal Executive Council (FEC), meeting presided by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday at the State House

According to Lai Muhammed, the decision to reschedule the exercise, was as a result of the decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to reschedule the Governorship and Houses of Assembly elections which was initially scheduled to on March 11th to March 18.

Lai Muhammed went further to revealed that the Council has approved N2.8 billion for the National Population Commission (NPC) to procure some software to be used for the conduct of the census.
