Federal Government Gives Reason Why They Can’t Evacuate Students In Sudan Now.

The federal government of Nigeria has responded to the letter of appeal by Nigerian students studying in Sudan to come to their rescue and evacuate them from the waring country.

Chairman of Nigerian In Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) Mrs Abike Dabiri Eriwa on Friday April 21st acknowledged the receipt of the letter by the Association Of Nigerian Students In Sudan.

Recall that there is an ongoing military war going on in Khartoum Sudan between rival military factions over control a fight which at least over 300 civilians have been killed.

In her response to the letter, Abike Dabiri cautioned Nigerians especially students in Sudan to be security conscious adding that the conflict in the country has made it difficult to evaluate any Nigerian now from Sudan.

According to her in a statement on Friday, Flight operations is now very risky in Sudan to avoid any attack.

The Statement Reads;

Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, (NIDCOM), has noted with concern the plight of Nigerian Students in Sudan over the escalation of hostilities between the Sudanese Army and the Paramilitary group-Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

She stated that the Commission has received the letter of SOLICITATION by National Association of Nigerian Students Sudan for possible evacuation of Students especially those in Khartoum, the Sudanese capital and assured that the National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA) which is in charge of emergency evacuations, is consulting with the in Nigerian mission in Sudan and other relevant agencies.

She therefore, urged all Nigerian Students in Sudan as well as Nigerians living in Sudan to be security conscious and calm.

The Federal Government has said that the ongoing crisis in Sudan is making it difficult for stranded Nigerians to be evacuated.
