David De Gea Announces His Exit From Manchester United

Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has announced that he is leaving the club after the expiration of his contract bringing his 12years stay in Manchester United to an end.

The Spanish goalkeeper enjoyed an excellent stay in Manchester United following his arrival from Athletico Madrid in 2011.

After the expiration of his contract, at the end of the 2022/2023 premier League season, David De Gea, and Manchester United board failed to reach an agreement on a contract extension prompting the decision to officially leave the club.

In a farewell message on his Facebook handle, on Saturday July 8th 2023 De Gea expressed his appreciation to the management and boards of Manchester United.

He further stated that his decision to leave the club is for him to take up a new challenge in his career in a new sorroundings .

“I just wanted to send this farewell message to all Manchester United supporters.

“I would like to express my unwavering gratitude and appreciation for the love from the last 12 years. We’ve achieved a lot since my dear Sir Alex Ferguson brought me to this club. I took incredible pride everytime I pulled on this shirt, to lead the team, to represent this institution, the biggest club in the world was an honour only bestows upon a few lucky footballers.

“It’s been an unforgettable and successful period since I came here. I didn’t think from leaving Madrid as a young boy we would achieve what we did together.

“Now, it’s the right time to undertake a new challenge, to push myself again in new surroundings.

“Manchester will always be in my heart, Manchester has shaped me and will never leave me.

“We’ve seen it all. 🤘🏼❤️ He wrote.

De Gea made a total of 545 appearance and keeping 190 cleansheets for Manchester United.
