Athan Achonu Emerges Imo Labour Party Governoship Candidate

Former senator representating Imo North Senatorial district Senator Athan Nneji Achonu has emerged the Labour Party governoship candidate of Imo State in the November 11 Imo governoship election.

In the election which was conducted at the Landmark Event Center saw Achonu defeating more popular aspirants like Chief Martins Agbaso and General Lincoln Ogunewe to emerge winner of the election with 134 votes.

According to the results announced by the chairman of the election, Chief Alex Otti the Governor-elect of Abia State the Ehime Mbano born politician, garnered 134 votes to defeat his closest rival Major General Lincoln Ogunewe who got 121 votes.

Martins Agbaso – 13

Mrs Ndidi – 1

Capt Mbamara – 5

Maj Gen Ogunewe – 125 votes

AIG Charles Agomuo – 1

Kelechi Nwagwu – 9

Sen. Athan Achonu – 134 votes

Chinedu Amadi – 4 votes

Achonu represent Imo North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, and was later removed by the supreme court in December 2015 and was replaced by Senator Ben Uwajumogu who Later Died in December 2019.

Asides Politics, Ikemba Achonu is a Successful Businessman, Administrator & Philanthropist, He will be up Against the Incumbent Governor; Senator Hope Uzodinma, and the national secretary of PDP Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu Samdaddy.
