Afenifere Still Pained Over Lost Of Investments In Peter Obi – Lai Muhammed

The Nigeria’s minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed has said that the Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere is still pained over the lost of their investment, following the defeat suffered by Peter Obi, candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the February 25 presidential election.

Lai Muhammed said this in an interview with reporters on Thursday in Washington DC, US, according to him, Afenifere has refused to get over the defeat suffered by Obi at the polls.

Lai Muhammed was reacting to the speech of the leader of Afenifere Pa Ayo Adebanjo while responding to the statement initially made by Lai Muhammed accusing Peter Obi of causing insurrection in the country by his speech.

Mr Lai Muhammed further accused Peter Obi treason offences and said that Peter Obi is desperate and not democrat as he claimed to be.

Responding to the Speech of the Nigerian Information minister, Pa Ayo Adebanjo said that the comments of Lai Muhammed is irresponsible adding that the government irreponsibility, is the reason why they lost the confidence of Nigerians.

Replying to Pa Ayo Adebanjo,Lai Muhammed in an interview with reporters on Thursday in Washington DC, US, said that Afenifere has refused to get over the defeat suffered by Obi at the polls.

“It is clear from what they said that Afenifere invested heavily in Peter Obi’s presidency, and they failed woefully, that is the reason why they are lamenting.”

“They have refused to get over the loss of what they invested in Obi’s presidential campaign. But the earlier they do, the better for them.”

“There were days when Afenifere sneezes and the whole country will catch a cold. It is not the same thing right now. When Afenifere talks and you begin to ask yourself, which Afenifere? You know what that means.”

“I said Peter Obi and the Labour Party should stop inciting people to violence since they have submitted themselves to the election tribunal.

“They should stop asking people to go out on the streets, they should stop the reckless statement that if the president-elect is sworn in, it will be the end of democracy.”
