  • Use A Secured Sockets Layer (SSL)!

Search engines are pushing all websites towards using an SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate. An SSL adds security to a website and makes users feel more comfortable when submitting their personal information.

The fact that search engines want you using an SSL is great news, as there are many reasons why a business should use one!

Here are three ways you can optimize your website with an SSL.

Improve SEO: When people see https in their browser address bar, they will automatically assume your site is secure. This can help improve your ranking on search engine results pages because it helps reassure visitors they are visiting a legitimate site.

In addition, browsers like Chrome now give sites that don’t have an SSL a big red warning sign before allowing them to be visited.the last thing you would want is for potential customers to leave because of such a warning!

Protect Customers: If someone enters their credit card number or other sensitive information into your website, an SSL will protect that data from being stolen by hackers.

In addition, some companies require businesses to have an SSL before they will allow employees to access corporate resources remotely.

Increase Conversion Rates: People who visit your site without seeing a green padlock icon next to the URL tend not to trust you or your brand; if they don’t trust you, they won’t buy from you!

Creating new and useful content on a regular basis is one of the best ways to rank higher in search engines.

Besides being good for your users, fresh content shows Google that you are active and engaged. The more often you update your site, the more likely it is that you will see an improvement in ranking over time.

To ensure your page has fresh content, schedule new posts about once a week. Remember, just because it is old doesn’t mean it is not relevant anymore!

Keep your eyes open for trends in your industry and write about them when they come up.

For example, if SEO becomes a hot topic, write a post discussing how SEO works or how to optimize your website for SEO. Or if there is some controversy going around regarding social media marketing tactics, address those issues with an informative post.

  • Add Schema Markup To Your Blog Posts!

Schema markup can help your website show up in search results by adding additional details about your content to search engines.

This is a powerful tool for improving how a webpage appears in search engine results pages (SERPs). It is not essential that you use Schema markup, but it can definitely help make sure that people who click on your link will be directed to exactly what they are looking for.

The good news is that implementing schema mark-up does not take much time at all! So let’s get started.

I am going to add schema markup to my own personal website using WordPress as an example. If you are not using WordPress, don’t worry  there are ways of implementing Schema on almost any site type and CMS system.

In fact, I would encourage you to do so if possible because of how easy it is with WordPress and its plugins; however, most other systems should have similar methods available for implementation. Once you install and activate Yoast SEO plugin, open it from Plugins > Add New or by searching for Yoast SEO in your dashboard. When opened, go to Tools > Open Social Tab or by clicking on the icon with three horizontal lines located next to Yoast SEO logo. Clicking here will open a new tab with social options already added into Yoast SEO settings.

You can leave these options enabled or disable them if you prefer. We won’t be using them today, but they may come in handy later on when we start working with Twitter Cards and Facebook Open Graph tags. Now, go back to Search Appearance menu tab and scroll down until you see XML Sitemap field. Click Configure XML Sitemap button right under it to start configuring XML sitemap settings within Yoast SEO
